  •  Shoveling snow, ugh. We get ours tonight and (5+ / 0-)

tomorrow supposedly. I'm good. I'm trying to think of something to cook for dinner. I'm bored with everything I know how to cook.
Oatmeal is easy once you get the hang of it. Are you using rolled oats? The box says to add the oatmeal right away before the water boils for a creamier oatmeal and what gchaucer2 said about using a little extra water will make it softer too.
Yes 100 is still on the docket.

    •  Hmmmm, rolled oats? (6+ / 0-)

I really can`t say if mine are rolled flumptytail. They look like snow flakes, but come individually and not rolled that I can tell and sort of tan in color.

It is true that at this time of winter cold mornings, a large bowel of these suckers come in very handy and tasty. I will get the hang of it and learn.

Of course, I mean, I could always ask my lovely wife to do me that favor -- but a guy like me does not deserve a woman like my wife if I can not even cook oatmeal dammit!

Ha, whatda you think flumptytail. I`m down too with the docket number. Now I`m going to lay back and watch a movie on my spanking new present from my son -- Netflix

      Peace

Rolled just means flat instead of nuggets of oats. They are rolled with a roller, I guess. Quaker Oatmeal is rolled oats.
      •  if they're flat, they've been rolled -- like with (5+ / 0-)

the roller they use for laying asphalt streets! well, they use two steel rollers these days, used to be granite ones I think...

I don't think, personally, that it would be cheating if you asked your wife how SHE does it, if you like the way hers come out... just so you can get her technique down, which is probably where your difficulties are coming from.

It's amazing how much HOW you do a particular step in a recipe can affect your end results. Some people start with flair, many can learn it from example and experience, but some poor folks will never really "get" it!
