    Seems like people think they were Wrong to go to the ER if it turns out it wasn't a serious problem. They are under the mistaken impression that one goes to the ER IF one has a serious problem, so when it turns out it wasn't, they were wrong to go.

    Better way to hold it, I think, is that one goes to the ER if there is any question that they Might have a serious problem. The "might" is enough of a reason to, as the purpose is to find out, to make sure. Any weird unexplained symptom, especially the ones you characterize in the diary, are likely worth the trip.
