  •  Those Amanas were great. (3+ / 0-)

I used to work for the Amana distributor when they first came out, doing cooking demos..   We'd go to a little appliance store in a tiny town and put on a sixty minute class, cooking a Salisbury steak and gingerbread with hot lemon sauce from scratch.   The farmers and their wives loved it, and they were fun to do.

We also did demos in department stores, where we cooked gingerbread and handed out samples with the hot lemon sauce.  The smell really drew people in.

At the time my kids were little and they'd stay up at night hoping there was something left over.    Sadly, I could never afford to buy an Amana.  They cost between $700-900 at the time--like $1200-1500 now, I'd say.   But they were definitely quality.   Solid, and made in Iowa then.
