    Have you noticed how often your gadgets break just out of warranty? Yeah, it's deliberate. Manufacturers know when their shit will break (statistically speaking) and they'll sell you a warranty which falls short. Arseholes.

    It's the way of the stock market. Manufacturers need sales to boost their bottom lines and keep investors (YOU!*) happy. All of our stories will sound the same. Our grandparents owned shit which worked for 50 years. That's great, but how did it help the stock of that company? One (or two) purchases in a lifetime? Our parents might have bought three or four XYZ thingys in their lifetimes. That's better, but the shareholders are demanding more!

    Now to you and I with our blenders lasting a year or two. Yes, I know you can do the math.

    Planned obsolescence. They teach it at university.
