  •  That whooshing sound? (12+ / 0-)

That was the point of this diary going over your head.

Let me break it down for you: Kos is pointing out that US moral posturing after the criminal folly of Iraq gets a horse-laugh outside the US; you know, where the rest of the world lives.

Across the world, US foreign policy is regarded with a mixture of loathing, contempt and fear. With a good deal of justification.

There's no 'meme' at work here, false or otherwise: just a statement of the obvious.

    •  I disagree (0+ / 0-)

I don't see Kos saying that the US has no business taking a moral stance. There were lots of ways Kerry could have spoken against what is happening, he just happened to choose the most hypocritical one.

such things, what's the point of continuing to make such statements?  Just in the hope of deceiving the American people?

The influence of the [executive] has increased, is increasing, and ought to be diminished.

    •  so what (0+ / 0-)

      It gets a laugh?

Life of Brian gets a laugh too.

If I made a list of things that get a laugh, it would be a pretty long list.

      •  So what? Here's what... (4+ / 0-)

...nobody trusts the US or its motives.

Here's what: when the US sought support for action in Syria, it got the kiss-off from everybody, including its own citizens.

Here's what: America's traditional ally, the UK, put it to Parliament and the people's representatives rejected it.

Here's what: thanks to Iraq, nobody is ever again going to rush to 'stand' with America. The damage done is colossal and permanent.

        That's what. Get it?
