  •  Well, it looks like my S.O. and I are moving down (5+ / 0-)

their in July.  We will help get our efforts organized.

We both enjoy telling other people how they ought to improve. (lol)

Petersburg, and Clearwater are culturally more fun and Democratic.

        •  Yup! (5+ / 0-)

SW Florida is as bad as the panhandle with wacky politics and it starts south of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge going into Manatee County.

        •  I vote Cape Coral (1+ / 0-)

I live in the Cape, it's pretty nice, very clean and safe.

I moved here from up north. As a former Republican (Back when the party actually stood for what it CLAIMS it currently stands for) I was prepared to move to Red State Hell.

I found that while there are some rabid ultra rights here (as anywhere) there are quite a few people on the left of the spectrum too.

As a matter of fact, I am an activist and public speaker for the Medical MJ movement down here and only once did I receive a truly hateful response while out petition gathering.

One old man told me that my and all the other drug dealers heads should be chopped off and that would solve the problem. (About a week before Christmas too, there's that Christian spirit I hear so much about!) My response to him was, "Sir, have a happy holiday! It warms my heart to know that there are such kind, compassionate and caring people such as yourself out here this holiday season!"

He muttered cusses while walking away but 2 other people came over and signed and said they were supporters but were somewhat unwilling to sign due to fear of how others would perceive them (I was gathering in front of a library at the time)  but that they liked the way I handled the guy so much they felt obligated, lol!

Anyway, I digress, that incident actually took place across the bridge in Fort Myers but close enough. :)

If you have any questions about the Cape Coral/Fort Myers area feel free to hit me up, I am always happy to do what I can to bring more Kossacks down here.

I need all the backup I can get. ;)

But we don't really give a damn about how ya'll did it up north. If you come to help, that is important to remember.
