  •  The story unfolding at the UN right now makes this (14+ / 0-)

worse.  Can we please have a moratorium on Bush admin dead-enders from having a media forum for their idiocy?

At any rate, the Russian envoy has a letter supposedly from Yanukovich stating this (from the BBC):

"In view of this [events in Ukraine], I ask the president of Russia, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, to use the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to restore legality, peace, law and order and stability, and to protect the population of Ukraine, (Signed) Viktor Yanukovych, 1 March 2014".
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian envoy indicated that there were already 16,000 Russian troops in the Crimea.  The Russian envoy rebutted that the treaties it has signed for its leases allows up to 25,000 troops and reiterated the lie that they are there to secure the Russian-speaking population.

Susan Ricegave a forceful statement, including a statement that the OSCE observers will be there tonight and need to be given full, safe and secure access.

I love the BBC, warts and all.  But, my God, they are having John Bolton and Johnny Mac on tonight for BBC Newsnight.  Thankfully, BBC reporters love to ask tough questions unlike certain Sunday morning "reporters"...

    •  Perfect example: Menendez v. McCain (13+ / 0-)

      Both from the BBC:

The US Senate's foreign relations chairman, Robert Menendez, says his committee is developing legislation to provide at least $1bn in loan guarantees to shore up Ukraine's struggling economy, says Reuters.
      BBC Newsnight
tweets: @SenJohnMcCain tells #newsnight: I've hearing a lot of rhetoric on Ukraine but don't see a lot of action.
So, let's see....the Dem is developing legislation to help, but Johnny Mac says "too much talk, not enough ACTION!"  He sounds like a Viagra commercial.
