    his actions.

However, can you not see how Bush could easily, and with some justification, be accused of worse?

How many dead in Iraq? How many still in prison with no charges pending?

I don't think anyone is ignoring the instability of the entire region, including Ukraine, but if we were giving them a shove how can we now complain that Putin has seized the day?

More to the point, we can't do much about it.

What we can do is make alliances that offer mutual benefit. One of the prime drivers for the formation of the European Union, however imperfect it might be, was the desire of Germany to become so allied to the rest of Europe that it could never again repeat the mistakes of the past.

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.

Our drones fly around killing people in multiple countries,
sometimes the only justification is that they were in a group, so we thought they were terrorists. I assume generally there is some paper trail with a bought off leader that says we can do it,
and our multiple wars in central america, and Iraq don't really inspire a great deal of pride in our ability to
take the moral high ground with Russia vis a vis  their incursion in  Crimea so far.
Rachel Meadow recently did a piece questioning our
Iraq decisions and how they can be seen re Crimea.
Putin's tendency to kill and poison journalists and critics
and level cities of course are pure evil.
