The low primary turnout does not bode well for Davis.

It's going to take a lot of hand to hand work to raise enthusiasm to turnout the notoriously apathetic Dems in a mid-term.

    Is this a pipe dream?
Or will people actually do the work required to turn Texas blue?

While I hate losing, I despise getting beat by Republicans that out-work Dems.

Suddenly, it dawns on me, Earnest T. Bass is the intellectual and philosophical inspiration of the TeaParty.

Turnout patterns are hard to change, and it is not easy to do so during midterms that usually produce lower turnouts. If someone didn't turn out to vote when Obama, the first minority president was running why would they vote in an off-year election?

        Your thinking is somewhat accurate.

        second idea...

If we want Texas, and really apply time, work, and money, we can have it this year.
If we take it this year, we're sitting in the catbird seat going forward.

Granted... there will be resistance to doing the work... to make the idea more than a pipedream.

TX resident, that at least where I live (TX-22), there is usually no reason to vote in the primary, because there is usually at best one Dem running for any given office.  It's rare that we have a contested primary.  I only voted yesterday because I wanted to make sure Kesha Rogers didn't win.  I never fail to vote in the general, though.
