    I'm from Nebraska and know the Platte well.  I'm surprised you have to go down 3 feet to get water there. While I was growing up I always heard about the great "underground" river beneath the Platte.

    We used to go west a hundred miles or so from Omaha to hunt and fish on the Platte.  The sky would darken with flocks of birds and ducks in those days (the 1950s).

    The last time I was back there was to see the cranes near Hastings. Dang it was cold in February.

    A lot of folks worry about what the pipeline would do to the Sandhills.  I always worried what it could to do the Platte.
