  •  We were in the middle of one of a series of (7+ / 0-)

power outages here in the summer of 2012. Downtown there was still power (from generators, I guess) and so everyone was down there cooling off in the AC, charging their phones and laptops, getting hot food and cool drinks.

We were in a restaurant having lunch. My boyfriend picked up the wire attaching my cell phone to the outlet and said "This is what our society runs on."

I picked up my glass of water and said, "No. This is what our society runs on."

Sure once I was young and impulsive, I wore every conceivable pin. Even went to socialist meetings, learned all the old union hymns. Ah, but I've grown older and wiser. And that's why I'm turning you in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u52Oz-54VYw
