    ...who thinks he's not tyrannical enough?  I'd like him to get someone presiding to simply rule that a bill has passed with 51 votes, or declare a debate over and call a vote if nobody is actively speaking or seeking recognition.  Anyone who doesn't like it would be free to have their temper tantrum in full view of CSPAN2 cameras.

      It's long past time to completely nuke the filibuster, not just for certain nominations but for everything.  It's time to stop honoring blue slips, especially from the Republicans.

        ...the supermajority requirement to close debate is not per se a bad thing.  Robert's Rules, the procedure with which I am most familiar, has a 2/3 requirement to call the question BUT the previous question is automatically ordered if nobody is speaking or seeking recognition and comments must be germane.  If someone really wants to speak passionately on a topic for awhile, let him, but motions to proceed should not be subject to this.
