Except I think you meant an empty brown paper lunch bag (I don't know if they make paper sandwich bags). I'm pretty sure the weight would come in under an ounce, so a standard stamp ought to do it. And you don't even need a separate note, just write it right on the paper bag in bold marker. Something like "No Love, No Compassion" should convey the message just fine. But even without anything written, I think Rep. Ryan will still receive the symbolic message loud and clear.

By the way, I don't live in Hawaii, but I often don't get to these diaries until later, either, so I can empathize. It seems the ability to recommend comments is fairly short-lived, which sometimes can prevent one from recommending deserving comments. It's great they have groups, and tags for the diaries here, but it still seems like the structure here favors the same superficial short news cycle we're exposed to in the mainstream media (which it feeds off of).

Anyhow, although realizing us latecomers usually have a small or non-existent audience for our comments, which diminishes our voice here to an extent, there seems little that can be done to change that. Perhaps a bit more time to uprate might ameliorate that somewhat.

Time to go now--I'm off to prepare my brown paper lunch bag for mailing. I'd make it a stinky one, but that wouldn't be fair to the postal service employees or other workers who might have to come in contact with it. Thanks again for the idea!
