Judge Friedman will be issuing his ruling in two weeks or so. If it's favorable, he's almost certain to grant the stay the state has moved for (the situation in Utah was unusual because the state, through sheer and rather spectacular incompetence, had failed to ask for a stay before the ruling was issued).

No matter the outcome, the case will certainly be appealed to the Sixth Circuit, where it may find itself being parallel-tracked with the out-of-state recognition cases from Kentucky and Ohio. I'm not sure how fast the Sixth tends to be (the Fourth, where we've got the Virginia case, is one of the fastest; the Ninth, where we've got the Arizona case, is one of the slowest).

The Sixth is, however, one of the most likely courts to have its decisions overturned by the SCOTUS, and whatever it decides, it will almost certainly be appealed to them. Whether the SCOTUS will take it is a big question, though I'm inclined to think they won't if it's ready for this fall's term (I think they're more likely to take a marriage case in 2015-16).

So the answer is probably "some time this year" but nobody can say anything further.

Unfortunately when smart and educated people get crazy ideas they can come up with plausibly truthy arguments. -- Andrew F Cockburn
