Why are all these Republican books, stories, speeches, jokes and anecdotes about as original as the writing on the grade school bathroom walls?

I've chided conservative friends time and again for the lack of independent thought and creativity after receiving their propaganda emails (frequently racist, misogynist, xenophobic, homophobic or otherwise bigoted or narrow-minded) that they automatically forward with little or no actual consideration about what they're supporting and disseminating. Ignorance is a staple of the conservative echo chamber. Despite repeatedly pointing out the flaws, errors, mistruths and misrepresentations in their propaganda, and how what they're doing is wrong, it's like they never learn, and keep repeating the same behavior. I haven't given up completely, even though I decided long ago that my time was better spent elsewhere than on engaging fools in a hopeless cause.

How often nowadays does one meet a conservative who doesn't just repeat the same tired old talking points, which usually have already been debunked? From my experience, it's extremely rare to meet one, and when I have, it was the more moderate old-school conservative types who didn't think all that much of the far-right extremists in their party. I may still disagree with many of their positions, but I can respect that they have at least given some thought to their ideology, remain civil and open to opposing views, and refrain from promoting bigotry. It's a real shame and a detriment to our society that there are so few Republicans left who consistently display some modicum of decency, intelligence and integrity.
