my wife and i are on our own...i lived in vientiane for a year recently and found it relaxing to the point of having to check my pulse to see if i was still here :)

your children aren't learning any creation myths in school, i'll wager, and that's probably a good thing, right?

I love Laos.  I was in Vietnam for four years with children in the single digits.  Currently we are elsewhere in SEA.

I also had to check my pulse when in Laos, mainly Luang Prabang, but did enjoy it immensely and had a grand time hiking in Tat Kuang Shi (spelling?) waterfall park - pretty place.  Fortunately, my son does not recollect the bit where we nearly fell to our death when climbing to the pool a bit below the lip of the waterfall.

I agree with regard to creation myths.  Certainly, no creation myths taught in Vietnamese private schools to the best of my knowledge.  On the other hand, hard to determine what is being taught for the money being spent and that comment can be extended to some very expensive schools in HK that we sent our kids to.

However, we are looking at public schools on the West Coast and no creation myths seem to be taught in the schools that I would consider in the US!  So, absent a FSM school opening, up, all good!

working on a project.  Vientiane is a laid back place with great food.  Enjoyed it all
