  •  Obamacare will totally alter employment in the US (7+ / 0-)

Some preliminary bureaucratic research has already been developed that about 2 to 2.5 million "employees" will pull the pin on their shit jobs at age 62 and go Obamacare till they qualify for Medicare at age 65. In addition, many spouses (sig. others, shack-ups, cohabiters, etc.) will quit jobs they keep only to have health insurance and medical care. (I.E., my nephew is a re-modeling contractor whose wife teaches school. This is her last year because the ACA means they can buy insurance at an affordable price and her work in their business may help it grow bigger.) The studies also show that many people work part-time 2nd jobs to pay for huge medical bills that were not insured.

You can see where this goes, ayeh? The Koch Bros. own a bunch of industrial operations that play hell with their employees' health--chemicals, raw materials, mines. Their workers will jump ship to other jobs, go into business for themselves, or take radically early retirements. What the Kochs and their colleagues have done to themselves by eliminating "defined retirements" is put people on a path to 401k and IRA tax-advantaged retirements at age 59.5, which is an impending disaster for the cheap bastards and their drivel about not being able to fund and annuitize a defined benefit--it's bull.

Once the "excess" workers remove themselves from the workforce, the laws of supply and demand will exert their absolute forces. The Koch Bros. and all of the US Chamber businesses will have to jack up wages, benefits, and the retirement plans to acquire and keep workers.

Another substantial shift will be that low-wage workers will play off employers against the Obamacare standards. A WalMart employee might go to work for Joe's Shoe Store or Pete's Pharmacy if the little business can pay about the same but offers the ACA top flight insurance. If you're a young, single mom or an older diabetic, etc., it might make a lot of sense to work for the little guy instead of the MAN. Kochs, NAM, US Chamber, etc., have all generated research and conclusions on where this goes for their krappy operations--and it all looks very European to them.

In 10 or 11 years, the work landscape will be forever altered in favor of the employee. Just notice the Cadillac tv commercial about why American workers accept no healthcare, no vacations, no overtime pay or comptime, and shabby treatment. It will unravel sequentially.

We're all just working for Pharoah.
