    Nobody cares what time the clock says when you are milking cows or harvesting hay. You do it at the time it needs to be done. That is not the same thing as going to a clock-in/clock-out job. So if you do it an hour earlier or later by the clock, who the hell cares?

    Is there really a shipping reason, these days, that milking can't happen at the same time for cows irrespective of DST?

    The one scenario I see is where kids do the milking and chores during the school year: if their school begins "earlier," before the cows are ready to be milked, it would cause a problem. I don't know how many small family farms there are that depend on kids to do the milking.

      an agricultural nation, and kids were needed on the farm, not in a school room.

      Animals keep the same schedule, we humans have to adjust around it for DST.
