finished this one (and it ain't done yet) if daughter hadn't pulled it out at Christmas and used it as insulation/back door curtain to pretty up the tree corner. Had to look at it day after day for months (right through January) and see that it's still awfully nice, and really ought to be finished.

Picked up three flat sheets at the Fabric Outlet years ago with a common burgundy color scheme. Cut 'em into 4" squares and pieced it together one winter thinking it would make up for the burgundy sheet (Egyptian cotton!) of my sister's that got stained by a stray Sharpie in the washer after we stayed at her lake house for awhile. Once it was together though, I realized it really had to be cut into quarters and re-assembled to have the right pattern. That's when I folded it up and hid it in the basement.

So this month I did quarter and re-assemble it, bought new batting (puppy ate the original roll), and another king size flat sheet to back it with. Pinned all the squares to batting and backing - a full-out on-the-floor hands-and-knees and holey fingers ordeal - and now I'm knotting all the corners. Of 700 squares...

When that's done I trim the batting and backing so I can roll it up for binding, but I can sew that on the machine. After I've basted it all by hand, of course. THEN I get to start quilting. So I'm not bragging about actually finishing it yet!!! §;o)
