  •  Thank you, BKos. (8+ / 0-)

And Dee, you know that Hansberry is the reason I became a writer.  Specifically a writer of scripts, of dialogue, of words spoken by actors.

I'd always fussed around with writing, but never knew my direction.  Then I saw Raisin, The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window, and Young, Gifted, and Black, and my whole purpose in life took form.  Especially Window.  The nature of the dialogue, the realness of the characters, the flow of conversation and jokes.  Then Raisin.  What a work.  And the fragments of writing that make up Y,G,&B are so magnificent, that I was lost to it all.

I'm grateful I went to school where I did, and that we were exposed to such wonderful works.

Thank you so much for this.  I'm gonna try my damnedest to get into town and see that.  Scraping my pennies together, too.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand. -- Albert Einstein
