    They were rushed into production without a standardized proven design, so the cost of retrofittiing for the next war that might never need them is prohibitive.

      ...like the group who supplied the military vehicles for the County Building scenes in The Blue Brothers. I talked to one of them who wanted to know if the City of Chicago was going to sell a small tank that had been on a memorial plinth at Western and Grand when the intersection was widened. The tank actually belongs to the Park District, and they moved it to a new location in a nearby park.

      That's where most of these things will end up, when the police discover they gulp gas like a significant fraction of they regular squad car fleets.
