    Now, one question:  What IS the Sierra Club's position and if it is in opposition, why?

      ... Sierra Club position, or a variety of Sierra Club positions. The Director of Sierra Club, California, Kathryn Phillips, has been recently quoted as strongly opposed, though the argument is quite odd, as it seems as if Kathryn Phillips believes that we can get to where we need to get to in terms of GHG reductions without doing something about the addiction of California intercity transport on fossil fuels.

      Support for the California HSR was a Sierra Club California position, but Kathryn Phillips seems to be leading the Sierra Club to the other side of the issue.
