  •  The problem with "the flu" is it used as a (6+ / 0-)

catchall phrase for any illness in the winter and a cold or upset stomach is mistaken for influenza. I have had the flu a couple times when I was young and I do not know if I could fight it at my age with a heart condition. I had the Hong Kong flu in Jr High in the late sixties and i remember being isolated in my parents room away from the rest of the family and moaning and shivering and sweating for a week. Now I'll take my chances with a yearly flu shot and my ten year pneumonia shot. I have a friends who think the flu shot will give you the flu and others who don't believe in any vaccines and nothing will change their minds.
