  •  the district 5 blocks away from me (4+ / 0-)

is represented by Blue Dog Kurt Schrader. I don't talk to many Democrats who "feel good" about him, but he keeps getting re-elected in a district that's about 50-50, like FL-13.

    •  exactly (0+ / 0-)

It would be horrible for FL-13 to entrench a blue dog as the incumbent for decades to come when we just as easily could entrench someone that gives a shit about homeowners and the working class.

      •  Sink wouldn't stay for "decades" (5+ / 0-)

She's already 65 years old.  And assuming she does win and hold this seat I could see her running for Senate down the road.  Possibly as soon as 2016 if Rubio were to abandon his Senate seat to run for President.  Or in 2018 if Nelson retires.

      •  that's the opposite of what I meant, (3+ / 0-)

which is that a Blue Dog can win and lock down a 50-50 district. And being represented by a Blue Dog is better than being represented by a Republican.

        •  You are right, but being (0+ / 0-)

represented by a blue dog when we could have very easily been represented by a real Democrat if the party establishment hadn't squashed the progressive opposition. this just sticks in my craw.

As a Democrat and resident of FL-13 I want to have a primary to decide which candidate my party will nominate to represent me in the House. Sink was forced on us by the party establishment and she is exactly the type of Democrat that we DON'T need in the House.

If the Party hadn't told Jessica Ehrlich to get lost I'd be one of the people in this thread telling dissenters to STFU and toe the line, but this whole situation stinks to high heaven and I don't like it one bit.

The workers of Pinellas county deserve better than this.

          •  I will give you that I don't think (0+ / 0-)

Ehrlich was treated right, and that Sink is an uninspiring candidate to say the least (her 2010 gubernatorial campaign was an undisciplined disaster and that's why Florida has Rick Scott as governor).
