  •  An Independent Governor for Wisconsin? (0+ / 0-)

What would it take for a strong, successful Wisconsinite running as an independent to win the Governorship?

    •  A name, money, courage, hard work, and clarity (1+ / 0-)

Dale Schultz, the independent Republican state senator, won't do it, because it takes money.  (I suspect he, like all politicians, thinks money first.  He'd be surprised by the volunteer support he'd get if he stepped up.)

Russ Feingold won't do it... god knows why.

Breet Favre blew his chance.  Maybe Aaron Rodgers these days...

I agree.  Courage being the most important.  When I ask the question to fellow Wisconsinites ("Can an independent win?"), they pretty much all say "I'd love to see someone try!" or "It can be done, but it'd be a lot of hard work."  We'd probably all be surprised if someone honest and clear and likeable and (heaven forbid) independent did step up, but he's there.  And you're right - the amount of support he'd get would be amazing.  Probably make the two parties a bit nervous.
