about inner-city poverty and joblessness as he does about the Higgs Boson. Which is to say, nothing except what other people might have told him, or maybe some random data off the Internet that reinforces his already held beliefs and is probably wildly inaccurate or just flat out wrong.

I'd like to see him or anyone product once third-generation member of a family that's never known anything but welfare. Just one. It's more likely (from my Wonder Bread viewpoint) they'll find people who are having trouble finding and holding down jobs whose grandparents were blue-collar workers, and who have trouble finding steady long-term unemployment that pays enough to raise a family, much less aspire to be middle class.

So this West Virginian walks into a bar and says, "Fix me a Green River."
