many of the full time staff post so much i doubt they have time to read much. unfortunate, but their output sometimes boggles me.

it can be tough, putting a lot of work into a post, and seeing it sink. happened to me with most of my early posts. my own policy on rec'ing is that i know there will only be so many posts on the rec list, so i only rec those i want to see there. i do sometimes rec a post i don't fully accept, just for discussion purposes, or because there is enough there that i want others to see. but i don't want to rec posts that then might bump posts i'd prefer for people to see.

we should have two types of recs?

A community support - "keep on truckin'" kind of atta-a-boy, and a separate I give this my highest unqualified support to represent our site to the outside world.

Absent that, please remember only ten spots are on the top ten list, so if we all doubled the number of recs we gave, it would not double the number on the top ten list, only make the top ten more representative of our reading population.

Our biggest area of potential, however, is encouraging those that only read, to take the plunge and start rec'cing and commenting rather than just lurking.

We should look up a picture of Glenda, good witch of the west, saying "come out, come out, where ever you are."
We only bite when we get overstimulated.

I have been most pleased with, have sunk without a trace.

Others, dashed off in a moment and posted "just for information", have stayed on the Rec List long after I thought they should get a decent burial.

It's a bit of a lottery at times.

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.
