So what's wrong with that? Why should we purge all traces of socialism from the system (like Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, Medicare, etc.)?

None are so hopelessly enslaved, as those who falsely believe they are free. The truth has been kept from the depth of their minds by masters who rule them with lies. -Johann von Goethe

Socialism is the government ownership of the means of production. What possible connection to the minimum wage does that possibly have?

What real conservatives gripe about is that the minimum wage is an interference in the free market setting wage levels. Free market types argue that in every major metropolitan area there are hundreds of thousands of potential employees and thousands of employers. The free market will find the wage that represents a market clearing price for each job, without any interference from the government. To the extent the minimum wage is above the market clearing price the government has imposed a tax on the employer.

Personally I believe in the minimum wage, but if they had made the argument in my paragraph above at least it stands on free market concepts. The notion that the minimum wage is socialist is nonsensical.

Clownservatives don't really do facts or truth.

what they do is use buzzwords which their base buys into-- and unfortunately some democratic voters buy into as well.
