  •  And John Kiriaku is still in jail (15+ / 0-)

    Ex-CIA Agent, Whistleblower John Kiriakou Sentenced to Prison While Torturers He Exposed Walk Free

    Former CIA agent John Kiriakou speaks out just days after he was sentenced to 30 months in prison, becoming the first CIA official to face jail time for any reason relating to the U.S. torture program. Under a plea deal, Kiriakou admitted to a single count of violating the Intelligence Identities Protection Act by revealing the identity of a covert officer to a freelance reporter, who did not publish it. Supporters say Kiriakou is being unfairly targeted for having been the first CIA official to publicly confirm and detail the Bush administration’s use of waterboarding.

    More on Kiriaku.

    Bruce Riedel, a former intelligence adviser to Barack Obama who turned down an offer to be considered for CIA director in 2009, has sent the President a letter signed by eighteen other CIA veterans urging that the sentence be commuted.[9]
    I am counting on more courageous whistle-blowers coming out.  The planets are aligning for a major restructuring of the intelligence/industrial complex.

    BTW, the Senate CIA investigation cost $40 million.  This from the NYT article thanks to Cadillac64's diary;

    The Senate’s investigation into the C.I.A. program took four years to complete and cost more than $40 million, in part because the C.I.A. insisted that committee staff members be allowed to review classified cables only at a secure facility in Northern Virginia. And only after a group of outside contractors had reviewed the documents first.

    Daily Kos an oasis of truth. Truth that leads to action.

    •  Hmmm. I may be too tired (and ignorant) (6+ / 0-)

      to be commenting, but I had just been wondering if, during the dustup that is sure to come, whether Senator Feinstein and others would be called whistleblowers? Might be an interesting case of shoe, meet other foot...
