Co-Operative model in action.  We get all our utilities through cooperatives out here,  and the Co-Op model has been firmly established in flyover country for well over a century,  even in the reddest of red states.

Thanks for the encouraging word.  I have been commenting about Co-Ops  for years here.  Your Credit Union is a Co-Op.

Texas and I am not really aware of the why but it happened sometime after 1995.

If this is a site where we educate the young and give depth to the issues of those who don't know.

I come to Kos because of what I learn here.  I think this is valuable knowledge and I don't have it and I think a lot of people don't have it.  I was impressed that coming so late to this diary the request got five recs.

So if you think the knowledge is redundant, or not worthy of your time, or already out there can you provide a link?  I am sorry to be technologically impaired but I am at 70.

that support it has been around since the  1800s.  History and general principles can be found at Wikipedia.

Our coop, Eastern New Mexico Rural Telephone Cooperative (ENMR)  was started in 1947 with Federal help, part of a large program that brought phone and electric power to many rural areas all over the West.

As a child in the early 50s near NYC,  I remember seeing Co-op "brand"  gas stations and supermarkets.  There were even "Co-op" labeled products in the markets.

I'll be 69 myself in May, so one is never too old to learn new stuff.  I'll work at getting more info together into a diary.  It is encouraging to see that people are interested.  Typing is kinda slow and tedious for me.

creature.  If we could hear him I wonder what we would learn.

So pick away, some things are worth waiting for.  Send me an email and to those who rec the request and see if we can get it on the rec list.  Meanwhile, I will read your link.

Thanks for the time and trouble.
