comments following, comments that were intelligent, diverse, funny, cryptic. I thought "you could write in praise of motherhood here and someone would disagree in the comments." It was an interesting place to sign into and seemed indispensable during the Bush years.

Now, it's not how I got here that I'm thinking about, it's why I stayed so long. With GWB in power there was no undercurrent that a user would be immediately assessed on their loyalty and love for the President. It was a given that the majority had no good feelings towards Bush. Now, it's the fast flowing undercurrent and it is weakening the site and the quality of the writing. "He may be a good writer, but he has been critical of the President, banish him."  "That diary is a little weak, but she is completely loyal to the president, hugz." What a way to run a site that should be based on good writing and good ideas.

How long will the zeal continue? will it go on even after Obama's presidency is over? Will any honest discussion of his legacy be allowed? The strong thought about this site that keeps coming to mind is a vague "it's over." I haven't figured out exactly what yet but I know "it's over."

Thanks for the opportunity to chat a little.
