  •  Sorry to hear what happened, Mark. (5+ / 0-)

This stuff seems to be becoming very commonplace. We were notified in late January that someone had used our credit card in Apopka, FL. Since we live in WI, that was pretty weird. Thankfully, Chase realized it was fraud very quickly. The individual tried to charge twice at a Home Depot in Apopka and once at a Winn-Dixie grocery store. They notified us the same day it happened; within 7 days we got our new cards and everything has been good since then.

I wanted to mention that we do have Alerts set on our credit card account---any charge over a set amount gets us notified within minutes via e-mail. In this case, the amounts were relatively small and below our alert threshold---so we're appreciative that somebody at Chase jumped on these charges immediately.

For those interested, I came across an article just last night from Yahoo News about Target having possibly MORE people affected by this hacking. Here's a link to that article. I was pretty disgusted after reading it.

"A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more." - from the prophet Jeremiah
