  •  Yes, there is dental care at the VA (1+ / 0-)

Besides checkups and so forth, I got a very nice bridge installed at the Memphis VA (this was some years ago, but I am assuming those benefits haven't changed).  Many non-VA dentists that I saw after commented on how nice the VA bridge was -- even more so when I told them it was from the VA.

    •  But they only cover 100% disabled vets in VA for (2+ / 0-)

dental.  My husband is fortunate, I guess, in that he can get his teeth taken care of.  I on the other hand, my teeth are rotting out of my head and I can't afford to go to a dentist to get them fixed.  I worry about how it is affecting my health.  It is bad for your heart, I know that.  The last dentist I went to said it would take 10,000 dollars to fix my teeth and tried to stear me to a next door finance office to borrow the money.  How convienent, a finance office next door!  I said no and left.

      •  Sorry to hear about this (0+ / 0-)

Couple of comments.  A friend of mine almost died because of not taking care of his dental needs.  An abscess in a tooth migrated into his brain.  Another friend is having major dental work done this summer to stave off a similar thing from happening.  So I am really sorry to hear about your situation and hope that there will be some way for you to get it fixed.  I also agree that dental should be covered for more than just 100% disabled vets.  I guess I have been taking some of my VA benefits for granted.
