  •  My First Exposure to the TRS-80 Was at Work (4+ / 0-)

Being a forward-looking group we had one that was supposed to be shared (but I pretty much monopolized it.) The thing was I was doing data crunching that took several hours to produce a final tabulation. Because of the inherent error rate of the machine, I could always find several calculation errors as I read through the results.

My next job gave me a VT-100 terminal connected to a VAX 11/780. I even got a VT-100 and 150 baud modem to take home to allow me to load down the VAX overnight and not bother anyone.

    Gad, I'm old.

    •  Not old, you (and I) are "well seasoned" (4+ / 0-)

Heh. I worked with VAX back at the U of Minn. We has all the toys like a 9600 baud modem. Ooh! Aah! You could play video games on the VT100 with that kind of speed. ;D

GOP 2014 strategy -- Hire clowns, elephants, and a ringmaster and say "a media circus" has emerged and blame Democrats for lack of progress. Have pundits agree that "both sides are to blame" and hope the public will stay home on election day.
