    The issue was their backing Dillard.

    The big three have labeled Rauner enemy number one and are making keeping him out of Springfield their priority.

    That's why they've dumped money and effort into the primary. If Dillard is the nominee they believe they can sit back and relax. Democrats will still have a super in at least one, potential both the House and Senate.

    He voted against pension reform and is nominally better than Quinn on their number one issue.

    There's a pretty clear path to the big three backing a hypothetical Dillard nominee over Quinn. That's the reason establishment Democrats are so happy about Rauner, he forces the public unions to back Quinn.

    It's a brand new rock.
