they probably have some kind OSHA rules or something that require them to practice earthquake safety. And yeah, the lights! I suppose you also don't know how long/strong the quake is going to be until after it's over. I'm in NE Ohio - we've had a few, but not enough to make us seasoned experts. :)

    •  Earth quakes beware of fracking. (5+ / 0-)

Can't rule it out because places there were quakes before and offshore fracking are now the latest craze with oil and gas companies to drain every lubricant from the plates.  We all know what a squeaky wheel sounds like or grinding rock.  How can they blow up the bottom of the surface we walk on and tell us they've applied enough pressurized water and sand in the hole to keep it from sliding and jerking to settle.  Fracking is a bad idea, and with all the sink holes turning up, I'm just saying, sun is free, and so is the wind.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to say: "hey let's try some free energy sources that don't destroy the planet?"

They are opening the Madrid fault to run that pipe and they ain't playing.  The oil sands will leak and we'll get the check for the left over mess again.  Jesus I wish this old farts will "blow away."
