Is the most toxic force poisoning our democracy. Another decision making it worse could be fatal.

there are people one our side actively working to undermine Democratic efforts to elect a president unless the candidate can pass their purity test. We saw how well that worked in 2000 didn't we.

Can anyone say that we are better off having gone through 8 years of Bush and two SCOTUS nominations than if a less pure Gore had won. Well we wound up with the Iraq debacle and a Supreme Court that graced us with the Citizens United decision. Did it move the Democratic party to the left? Of course not, if anything it moved it to the right.

The truth is that the other side has the coffers of umpteen billionaires who are working and scheming behind a well oiled propaganda campaign. What do we have to balance all that. Nothing more than our solidarity. This is how it has always been and how it will always be. The only thing that has made us effective is our solidarity and the billionaires know that when that breaks down we have lost. This is why they sit in their paneled board rooms praying to whatever shriveled God they worship that more of us will break off and splinter into warring factions.

Solidarity is our only weapon. Solidarity is what will ultimately keep us moving in the right direction. Let solidarity break down and we will find ourselves wishing that Citizen's United was the worst of our problems.

        at the same time.

We can concern ourselves with issues of where-the-candidate-is-liberal-enough and issues of reversing Citizens United. They both matter, in different ways.

you do understand and share, to a greater or lesser degree, the concern I have outlined. We have to take care not to unintentionally undermine the solidarity that is our most important advantage, along of course with the advantage that truth has a liberal bias.

There are limits to where we should keep our loyalty (Cuomo, Lieberman) but in general even a milquetoast Democrat is far superior to any Republican.
