      but just in case you are, the whole problem is that the system of corporate surveillance and data sharing has evolved without any coherent consideration of its consequences. So yeah, most people thoughtlessly click "I approve" because otherwise they won't be able to buy whatever it is they want or pay that bill conveniently.  Or (as in the stuff linked from the diary) they drive from place to place oblivious to the fact that their movements are being recorded by both fixed and mobile readers scooping up licence plate numbers in bulk and linking them in a database to GPS positions and times. And so on. But they are generally unaware of how comprehensively exposed their lives have become.

      And of course as long as government and corporations are generally benevolent and you don't do anything to make any serious waves that might harm their interests all this won't really matter. But should we really on that always being the case, or should we seek to come up with a system of constraints which can preserve the concept of privacy in this technological future?
