  •  Psychoanalyze Franklin Graham... (9+ / 0-)

...and you'll discover a resentful son of a celebrity, albeit a celebrity whose celebrity status was awash in religion and a reputation as a "Maaaan of Gawdddd" as he would say it.

Compare his antics with that of the pre-adult Bush twins and you've uncovered the truth.  As a young man, Graham was a rebellious motorcycle-ridin', drug usin' Marlon Brando wannabe, standing in line outside trendy clubs being asked "Now, you're the son of.....who?"

When his father became infirm, he made his move.  While Billy Graham learned to avoid politics after getting burned by Richard Nixon, Franklin embraced the whole right-wing schmeer.  Some say Billy's endorsement of North Carolina's antigay referendum a few years back was actually Franklin talking, that Billy's too Alzheimer to articulate it.  I suspect that's at least partly true.

In short, Franklin Graham is a manboy which never grew up and in his fifties having to deal with the fact others have different sexual orientations that most of us dealt with in junior high.  He's a bitter, resentful, oozing ball of anger, with all the good moral qualities of a cobra, except a cobra is kinder and gentler.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. -- John Kenneth Galbraith

    •  Franklin reminds me of George W Bush and how (5+ / 0-)

Bush was drinking and drugging and partying until he was 40. And We know Dubya has Daddy issues and that seems to the only reason he wanted to be show Daddy he could get elected twice which Daddy could not.

Frankin has Bush and Mittens type issues too...those three have serious daddy issues.

from politics, or Nixon, except that sometimes one has to be more discrete when committing graft and fraud.

Billy Graham was a man who was way to clever and cynical and avaricious not to know that his entire theology was fraudulent.  He never missed a chance to associate himself with power. A political leader has illicit sex? A powerful person caught in a scandal?  Well, quick as can be, Billy's there with his bible, kneeling and praying together, making sure there's a camera around, getting some free media and expanding his brand's share of the market. And when the cameras aren't around, he's ingratiating himself to power, bitching about the Jews unaware that Nixon recorded everything.

Father and son, each as grotesque as the other.
