They need a plan that can be simply described and just go on it.  They need to co-opt Repubs and take control of the discussion.

      •  They have a plan. "Scrap the Cap" (4+ / 0-)

Now I am not fully onboard "Scrap the Cap" and in fact am a contributer to an alternative plan we call "The Northwest Plan for a Real Social Security Fix" (or NW Plan for short) that instead relies on phased in increases in FICA, which it turns out would result in unnoticeable reductions to the projected increase in Real Wage over the next 75 years even under the dismal wage projections of Intermediate Cost.

And there is a move to develop a blended plan between "Scrap the Cap" and "Northwest". Plus you have the more progressive plans currrently being pushed by Senators Begich, Merkley and Sanders.

The problem is not that there are no plans by Dems, the problem is breaking through the Beltway 'Crisis' message. Basically no Villager has looked at the numbers because after all these years of only hearing other Villagers repeat the same talking points, including "serious" economists at AEI and Cato they just assume SOMEONE must have actually done the due diligence. I mean it is impossible that so many people could be deluded for so many years by the same Big Lie! Right??

        Lazy Villager 'Sensible' 'Centrisim'.

is the main coordinator for the Strengthen Social Security Coaltion which in turn has over 200 organizational members from across the progressive and union and senior advocacy spectrum. Starting at their website is a good start.

As for our Northwest Plan, it is mostly headquartered at econoblog Angry Bear.

There are a limited set of links at the dKos Social Security Defenders Group Page.

But to the degree that there is an organizational center it is to be found either with the SSSC or with the CPC (Congressional Progressive Caucus). And there are staff from the later in contact with the former.
