Legislators who are more concerned about "good form" and staying friends with each other off the clock are never going to be guided by principles either lofty or vulgar, are never going to have the energy or courage to stand behind meaty legislation, and will be happy to fall under the sway of anyone who'll take them both in.

When your government is politely and quietly screwing you with the law and parliamentary procedure behind them, then the correct response is to fuck shit up.

Domestic politics is the continuation of civil war by other means.

Thank you for identifying the correct response. It drives me almost to drink that we don't have an organized response initially bankrolled and organized by, dare I say it, the Unions and certain institutions. who could afford to pay for buses, trains and motorcades to Capital Hill in a perpetual protest and visits by constituents to the offices which would leave staff little time to attend to what they are told by their boss is their primary job: serving the Big $$ Donors.  Thank you again! Refreshing to see. Jamming their phone lines and flooding their offices with constituents would just be a beginning while folks build a comfort level with non-niolent direct action. Some of us being more comfortable right now than others.
      Have a peaceful evening.
