    •  I just switched my home page to Ixquick (3+ / 0-)

and made it my default browser, for my computer at work.
I'll see if I like it.

I tried Yahoo, but their home page is very cluttered, and a lot of the clutter is ads, fluff, and silly "news".

If I don't like Ixquick, I'll probably try DuckDuckGo, but I'm open to suggestions.

Google should realize that their user base is "a mile wide but an inch deep".  It isn't hard to switch and it takes very little time.  That's a contrast from how long it takes to switch where you bank.  When I decided to leave Bank of America, the easy way was to let it take months.  I reactivated my credit union checking account, redirected my direct deposit from work there, and redirected the automatic charges for government owned utilities (power and water companies) there.  I also set up internet payment to things like credit cards from the credit union account.  And then I waited to make sure it all worked right.  That took a few months.  I also got a safe deposit box at the credit union, and when my year's rent for the box at B of A was about due, I moved the contents.  Then I moved most of the money in the account, and then went to B of A and told them I was closing my account, and took the last little bit in cash.  They even figured out the fractional month's interest on the checking account (like two cents) and included that in the change I walked out with.
The whole process of changing banks took the better part of a year, done the leisurely way.  But it took me about two minutes to change my home page and default search engine from Google to Ixquick.  Maybe I'll short Google's stock.

We're all pretty strange one way or another; some of us just hide it better. "Normal" is a dryer setting.
