Are die hard neocons and it's beyond me WTF they are doing in elevated positions in the Obama Administration although I should know better about (a) how beloved of the Washington establishment such careerists become - like IT guys buying IBM, I guess nobody ever got fired for hiring Kagan as an advisor, and (b) how much neocon Kool Aid Obama has consumed.

No one is coming to save us, the future is in our hands.

Look at Wikipedia's article on billionaire Democratic donor Haim Saban to get an idea of the enormous pressure he has resisted for the invasion of Iran.

And if Republican billionaire Sheldon Adelson could dump $150 million into the election in 2012 he can certainly dump more into the one coming up in November.

It's always been a difference in degree rather than in kind. The 2 camps may employ somewhat different language, but they have more in common than not. The neoconservatives are known for their outright disdain for the U.N., while the neoliberals at least pay it some token respect; but both foreign-policy camps are willing to act unilaterally when the U.N. fails to get in line. Both camps believe in USING American military power to achieve their foreign-policy objectives. Both camps espouse American "exceptionalism", the assumption that the U.S. is such a uniquely righteous & chosen country that it need not feel bound by international law, global institutions or the norms of diplomacy.
