Lujane, dfarrah advise sending US troops to defend that country?

How many, and how would you explain the first dead US serviceman to the American people?

I say, let German troops take on Russian troops.

Germany has about 55k soldiers.  Have them send 30k to Ukraine.  If, and only if, they suffer heavy casualties, then the US can reconsider assisting in the effort.

I'll also add that no country is more pleased with the US committing itself in Ukraine than the Chinese.

The Chinese continue to press extraterritorial rights against US allies in Southeast Asia, and the US finds itself in another potential quagmire.

Hungary 1956. Germany won't fight for Ukraine and neither will we.
The morality of the thing doesn't matter.
The long term threat is an impoverished revanchist Russia armed with strategic nuclear weapons. The West needs to improve relations with Russia, because of the danger of nuclear war and because of Russia's energy resources. Ukraine is a speed bump.
