    political judgement/analysis is open to question.

    In The Conscience of a Liberal he celebrated the need for a strong labor movement, while at the same time dismissing the contributions made by radicals to the creation of such a movement in the past. He seems to have held the Cold War era view that you can have an effective labor movement cleansed of radicalism.

    This leaves aside the fact that the book was, in large part, a repudiation of his previous embrace of Neo-Liberalism.

    Nothing human is alien to me.
