  •  Isn't this failure by design? (15+ / 0-)

Another government "failure" designed to lift private Edu at the expense of public Edu?
Why do we keep electing people that don't believe in government? Or rather that believe in the private sector...
Never mind. I know that I'm preaching to the choir.

    •  THAT is exactly what it is about! What other (12+ / 0-)

profession endures the imposing of "design" from those who have never engaged in the profession?  Many of the Imposers have never taught in a public school or taught so long ago that their experience is irrelevant to today's public education realities.  Paul Weyrich would be so proud; his goal of destroying social institutions that ReTHUGlicans could not control is well underway.

In my 30+ years of teaching, I have seen many inane "reforms" come and go...this is different; it is sinister.  A 3rd grade teacher shared that "we" are now destroying the love of learning in the early primary grades because of CONSTANT assessments?  Children are turning off and tuning out.
