  •  loneliness is a rough road to walk (11+ / 0-)

    and we walk it... alone

i hear you when you say that there are men out there who just want to have "someone".  either they just can't stand being alone, or they don't want to have to cook and clean for themselves, or they cannot sleep in an empty bed.

But doesn't that mean by definition that the relationship is going to be about his need not to be alone rather than about what I might need?  I am younger than you, but already facing that option and rejecting it.  Still, there are times when loneliness is almost like torture.

And believe me, on the rare times I have felt confident enough to promote myself on a dating site, I am very clear about "No Republicons!"  Been there, done that, and fortunately did not end up with the guy.  I was heartbroken back then, but honestly, I know now I could never be in a serious relationship with a Republican.  I could love a progressive atheist much more easily than I could love a Republican, and I am a woman of serious faith.

i'm so glad you got to talk to Jim's widow--a friend who knows you and knew Steve and knows the ache of losing a beloved spouse.  i hope you keep in touch with each other.

you're not going crazy.  it just hurts like crazy.

Politics is like driving. To go backward put it in R. To go forward put it in D.
Drop by The Grieving Room on Monday nights to talk about grief.
