  •  Would you object to an employer firing an employee (0+ / 0-)

who never acts racist on the job even when interacting with the public, but has racist bumper stickers on his car and parks on public streets near the front door of the business, and outside of business hours wears racist T-shirts, expresses white supremacist ideas in person and on the Internet, etc.?

The most important way to protect the environment is not to have more than one child.

    •  No, I would protect that person's job too (0+ / 0-)

Even the racist's political speech is protected by the First Amendment. On the job actions are completely different than exercising political speech and using medicinal cannabis during off hours. I would even have no problem with someone being fired for being under the influence of cannabis or promoting racism while on the job but cannabis use the night before going to work should not be grounds for dismissal.

Cannabis use is more likely to improve employee performance because it helps promote a healthy sleep cycle which leads to a more relaxed and better rested employee. Besides, a regular herbal cannabis user would not very likely be a racist embarrassment for the business either.

Really don't mind if you sit this one out. My words but a whisper -- your deafness a SHOUT. I may make you feel but I can't make you think..Jethro Tull
