    Alabama.

Dick Gregory claimed in his stand-up act that he got fired from the Post Office for putting mail to Alabama in the Foreign slot.

Wait, I'm sorry, I meant 1850s Alabama, when the Curse of Ham was the long-established official Southern Baptist excuse for slavery. Noah's son Ham supposedly did something unexplained and apparently unspeakable to his father, and God cursed Ham's son Canaan and all of the son's descendants to be dark-skinned, mentally and morally incompetent, and fit only to be servants or slaves. For their own good. (Except that none of that is in the Bible.)

Because Noah, the only righteous man in the entire Earth, had just invented wine, got roaring drunk all by himself, and was lying around naked in his tent, passed out, with the door open, so of course it was his son's fault.

racism and the Curse of Ham theology.

Unfortunately, they doubled down on the bigotry and misogyny.

Fortunately, they are losing young people at the rate of millions annually.

Unfortunately, they responded by recruiting minorities.

Fortunately, they have elected a Black President.

Unfortunately, he is a bigoted, misogynistic Creationist.

In the movie Old Yeller, the character played by musician Taj Mahal tells a group of children about sneaking into a White Baptist church and almost getting caught. As he was fleeing through the woods for his life, he apologized to God for making all that trouble.

"Think nothing of it, my son," God replied. "I have been trying to get in there for centuries."
