I missed that. You do have a point although the situation that existed at the time was a bit different. Different Christians sects were imprisoning and killing each other. So that may be what he was referring to. In the Hobby Lobby case they are not actually forcing a religious belief in that manner. In fact thet feel that they are the ones to have to go by someone's else's beliefs.

I am not defending them though. And I find them pretty hypocritical since they carry stuff from China, who forces abortion on their own people.

If billionaires can afford to spend millions of dollars so that they can avoid paying taxes and fair wages, then they *can afford* to pay taxes and fair wages!

You can't claim on the one hand that you are so opposed to abortion you won't cover medication that may prevent the implantation of a fertilized egg (setting aside the fact that the bc in question doesn't actually work that way) because being against abortion is such a fundamental religious belief that you organize your company around it, and then source most of your inventory from state-controlled industries in a country whose government performs forced abortions.  It totally destroys your contention that this is a guiding principle for your business.  It's like insisting, based upon your religious beliefs that are opposed to drinking alcohol, that all your employees be teetotalers and you run a liquor store.

      •  Exactly In the long run though I think it would be (0+ / 0-)

better to just separate insurance coverage from employers. Otherwise our courts are going to continue to be clogged by this insanity.
